Living Life In A Rhythm

“Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me–watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.” -Matthew 11:28-30 // The Message Version

This unforced rhythm of grace — the groove — happens when we find the right rhythm of yes and no, of notes and spaces.

Routine is regimented, restrictive, and unfriendly.

Rhythm speaks to you, moves you, and flows.

“Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given..” -John 1:16

Rhythm comes from the Greek word rhythmos which means “a measured flow or movement.”

“Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.” -2 Peter 1:12-13

“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”

-Acts 2:1-4;12

“If we’re content on living life according to routine, we’ll miss the whole moment!”

“As the Church in the Wild, we cannot be prehistoric in our thinking nor lethargic in our concepts. We must innovate – we must be progressive. If we are not progressive, we will become obsolete.”

● The church could be diverse and unique.

● The church’s branches could reach over the world.

● The church could go into unchartered areas.

● The church could reach people who are not churched.

● The church could be filled with many, many people. People of different races, people of different professions, and people of different social status.

God never said, “Build me a church.”

When is the last time Jesus changed your mind about something? The answer reveals the vibrancy of your relationship with him.

● We’ve got to come together.

● We need to build bridges.

● We have to fall in love with Jesus all over again.
