WHAT’S THE ORIGIN OF SIN?
1 Minute Devotional On Sin
When you think about the origin of sin, what comes to mind? Adam and Eve? Cain and Abel? Satan? We often like to point fingers at other people like Adam did and pretend as if they have “caused” us to sin. But when we look at the origin of sin, we are our own worst enemies.
But there’s good news! The Bible is FILLED with stories of people God chose to usewho constantly disobeyed and sinned against God and others. And yet, God always provides a way forward. God clothes Adam and Eve. God gives Cain a new life. Sin will continually and perpetually lead us to death, as Paul said in Romans. And for another Pauline cliche, yes, we have all fallen short.
However, God is a good Father and enacted a plan to make sure our sin wouldn’t have the last word. Even though sin always pollutes, corrupts, and leads us to death our God always offers us forgiveness, redemption, and a new life through Jesus the Messiah.
Scriptures To Consider
Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 3:23-24: There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:1-3: What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
